McDoux Preservation LLC is committed to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) in both our work processes and our partnerships. Recognizing that historic preservation has always been dominated by White/Anglo interests and, as a result, has historically excluded other people, we take on projects and partners that allow us to serve African American and Mexican American communities in service of their goals.

The words we use — serving in support of their goals — are carefully chosen. We are not here to “help,” which implies a lack of capacity or ability, and we don’t impose our own goals and objectives on our client communities.

McDoux takes on pro bono projects to the extent that we are able. Currently, that includes four National Register nominations: for African American resources in Austin, Texas, and for Mexican American resources in Corpus Christi, Texas.
